Alice Fox at the Embroiders guild

Well another enjoyable evening at the Halifax Embroiders Guild. This evening we had the lovely Alice Fox talking to us about her work and major project at Spurn Point. It was lovely to hear how here work had developed from her degree to present day. I love the idea that you can use the things you fond on your travels to create your work. Alice uses rusty items to dye her fabric and items to create print blocks.

Alice has some amazing sketch books that record her observations. She keeps a mixture of written observations along with drawings and photographs. As her work was exhibited in a Light House she also dealt with scale and created a large fabric hanging along side a piece that fitted in the light room of the light house.
